Bangladesh in Crisis
Today’s biggest news is the political turmoil in Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned due to widespread protests and unrest, primarily driven by student protests demanding her resignation. The protests were significantly fueled by students who were protesting against the government’s handling of public posts and appointments, with a large number of students joining the movement. Tragically, approximately 200 students have died in the unrest. On August 5, following her resignation, students celebrated their success across Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Army has stepped in and formed an interim government. After resigning, Sheikh Hasina has come to India, arriving in a military helicopter.
